i need to give props to fluffa! because her blog and her knitting kick ass. don't know why i have never before mentioned how inspired i am by her! (hope you are reading this, becky!)
the weather is nuts here right now. thunder and lightning. yick.
it was like a tusnami last night at my apartment. the wind was whipping through there like crazy. shingles blowing off of the roof.
it was nuts. the power went out. then the roof and wall started leaking. onto our kitchen table. luckily, we heard it before any damage was done. but yucky and i don't know how they are going to fix the wall... it is cracked and leaking into the chalky board under the paint. yicky.
but, all of the power out gave me lots of time to knit!! i finished the skinny scarf for my "sister-in-law", sara. it is soooooooooooo cute and i can't wait to block it and take pics! it is definitly worthy of posting for ya'll. (oklahoma roots a'comin' out)*
and have not started the said next project (see previous posting) of sweater for self. have instead started ANOTHER scarf. i guess i am addicted. and i LOVE wrapping things around my neck. it gets cold easy. and i have LOTS of stash yarn i either inherited or got when i worked at michael's supply store and have no idea what it is and most likley have one ball of. so the next scarf (this one i keep for myself) is also going to be beautious! (one of my favorite made-up words) is is a mohair-y lavender/pink verigated..... it's lovely! pic worthy, i am sure. i am doing a new pattern that i got from one of my knitting girls in my wednesday group. (we finally decied that we need a group name; i'll keep you posted.) it is one she learned from her mother and i adore how it turns out. ribby and soft and wonderful! the stitches make a very pretty pattern... a pic will be needed!
so here is the free pattern for jen's no-name scrarf pattern:
using any yarn/needle combo, cast on multiple of 3 stitches. (i am using 10 addi turbo circulars, cast on 27 sts)
pattern is one row:
*knit 1, purl 2; repeat * across to last three sts; purl last three sts.
just repeat these rows to desired lenth and cast off.
optional: add tassels on ends or fringe along edges.
1. Did you vote in your last elections?
nope. me bad.
forgot to re-register after the big move to a new county....
2. Do you know who your elected representatives are?
mmmmm.... i heard something about gray davis partying all night long, so i am assuming that he won(?)
3. Have you ever contacted an elected representative? If so, what was it about?
nope.
4. Have you ever participated in a demonstration?
only at my middle school. they wanted to reduce our morning break from 15 minutes to 10, so we had a sit in on the front steps. righteous.
5. Have you ever volunteered in an election? What was the result?
nope. not even at school.
i finally had my knitting girls over last night! 5 weeks without my weekly meeting and i was starting to have withdrawals. i didn't even care that there are some boxes of junk sitting around... my girls were all there, clicking away! fabulous!
i am almost finito with a scarf i am making for my "sister-in-law" (boyfriend's brother's girlfriend). she wants to learn to knit, but lives a few hours away from me. i am sending her a little learn to knit kit for her upcoming b-day next month and a scarfie along with it. i don't know what the yarn it, but it is soooo pretty that i am definitly having trouble giving it up! but i love sara, so i don't mind. :)
in other knitting news, i have finally decided to finish working on the sweater for the boy. i am only a **little** scared of the love sweater curse. he's thrilled that i am making it, so it should be ok... :)
